Electrical Safety Testing Social Enterprise from The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army E+ Electrical Safety Testing social enterprise offers a range of safety testing that has all of the reliability and integrity associated with The Salvation Army.  The scheme is designed to help people who are unemployed and homeless to acquire skills, build self confidence, and to help them be job ready and to get into employment.

Whatever profit is gained is reinvested to help others undergo training in electrical testing, thereby equipping more people with necessary skills that will enhance their ability to return to the work place. By working on sites and attending courses at The Salvation Army centres, our training programmes get to the heart of the issues that matter to our trainees. 

A professional service

Our social enterprise offers high-quality electrical safety testing by a team of NAPIT-accredited engineers, to meet requirements by law demands that employers, employees and the self-employed take practical steps to ensure no danger results from work-based electrical equipment. We promise our customers an honest, reliable service with no hidden extras, call-out charges or bills for additional labour. 

We work with private, public, and third sector organisations and collaborate with facilities management companies and electrical contractors to provide a fully managed service to their clients. We strive for the highest of standards and aim to deliver a first class, proficient service, including:

  • Electrical installation testing (periodic inspection and testing)
  • Fixed wire testing, fixed appliance testing
  • Portable appliance testing services
  • Provide a FREE no obligation estimate
  • FREE replacement of fuse and plugs where required
  • FREE detailed electronic inventory of every item and its accompanying certificate

Our results

Since starting trading 2008, Employment Plus Electrical Safety Testing has:

  • Tested more than 160,000 electrical items for safety.
  • Trained 76 people in PAT testing, all of whom have experienced homelessness or long-term unemployment.
  • Created four Future Jobs Fund positions, providing six months of paid work for young adults or people who are long-term unemployed
  • Generated an income of £156,000 and invested £23,400 into training, travel and resources for the trainees.

Of the 76 trainees engaged over the last three years:

  • 28 have successfully moved on into employment.
  • Four are working in portable applicance testing, 24 are working in other areas.
