Helping people into employment

Electrical Safety Testing trainees

In their own words: Trainees of our Electrical Safety Testing Social Enterprise

The Salvation Army E+ Electrical Safety Testing social enterprise is designed to help people who are unemployed and homeless to acquire skills, build self confidence, and to help them be job ready and to get into employment. Whatever profit is gained is reinvested to help others undergo training.

Here's what some of our current and former trainees have to say about their experience:

"What I enjoyed most of all about The Salvation Army E+ Electrical Safety Testing training program is learning something I never knew before. I was very comfortable with the pace of the training and every effort was made to make sure I wasn"t left behind.” SP

"I would definitely recommend The Salvation Army E+ Electrical Safety Testing training programme. I thoroughly enjoyed the training programme as it was really interesting and easy to follow, and it was a great opportunity to pick up good knowledge and skills. I hope the initiative continues to grow in the future so that other people like me can benefit from it as well.” FK

"If I'm honest I can't think of anything negative about my experience. The training sessions were always enjoyable, challenging as well as extremely useful. Very grateful for giving me the opportunity to attend the course and gain practical experience at different sites. I'm hopeful the experience I've attained would lead to better things in the future and I would encourage anyone who is seriously considering entering this field to take up this course." TP

"It has been a brilliant week. Having been homeless and on the streets for about six months... the training opportunity got me into a routine of waking up early, getting dressed, going out in the morning and having something positive to look forward to. Overall, the electrical safety testing training course has provided me with the opportunity to tread a path I have always wanted to, and I have found it to be very beneficial. Hopefully, when the time is right I would like to continue on establishing my own PAT-Testing business.” GH

‘"I have been working with The Salvation Army electrical safety team for 12 months and gained vital work experience. I have enjoyed my time with The Salvation Army PAT Testing team." AK

"I have found working with The Salvation Army extremely beneficial as it is providing me with hands on experience in the industry I plan to have a career in.  Whilst participating in this placement I have found everyone involved with The Salvation Army to be extremely helpful and would definitely suggest to other's that doing voluntary work is an excellent way of gaining vital experience and also gaining an excellent reference to add to your CV."
